How low can we afford to go? That's the question of the day. After being in this industry for 30 years, I have watched so many transitions. Usually I am quite excited about them but it's really starting to concern me. I am seeing more and more Vendor Management firms making decisions on who to use based on "how low they can go" for paying for a title. Instead of taking a look a few important key factors.
In my mind (and other very experienced people) a healthier decision should be a cocktail that consists of experience, quality, professionalism, mistakes or claims, turnaround times and fees.
Instead, I am seeing more and more companies approaching us or dropping us strictly to get us to drop our fees to reflect next to nothing. Not taking into consideration of the outrageous fees or operating expenses that are incurred to provide the best service possible.
Let me give and example....I know when I want a hair cut, I go into a Solon looking for the hair dresser that has been there the longest. Not the newest person for cheaper. Otherwise, I would walk out very disappointed and not happy in the results.
To me it's a no brainier. Working with individuals or firms that affords me the ability to make me or my company look good is the firm I want a business relationship with. Mostly, because the quality of work speaks for itself.
A little memory popped up just now. and I feel inclined to share:
My mother always said " buy good quality shoes" your back depends on it. You can buy cheaper but you'll pay the price later on.
