You do not have to use the ACA Marketplace to find health insurance. This year the only provider for my area of my state is not offering any coverage with in network rates. And, even though my daughter is on my policy she has to return to VA from grad school if she needs any sort of medical treatment or else pay out of network rates.
At some point Congress changed the rules as to what constitutes a small business for ACA use and if you have under a certain number of people in your company, you have to use the individual, not the small business side of the site. With only 2 people in my company, I can't use the business side of the Martketplace to look for health insurance.
I ended up leaving the ACA Marketplace and finding health insurance with dental/vision coverage through an independent broker. It is only $75 more than what I was paying with the ACA subsidy, but has no deductible, includes dental/vision, and covers my daughter at in network rates where she is attending grad school. I don't know what my former bronze coverage plan without dental/vision would have cost me this year, but the family deductible was over $13K before most of the benefits started.
