Hi All,
For those of you who don't subscribe, The Title Report recently ran an article about our efforts here to organize. They really captured the essense of what we are trying to do, but they did make mention of one thing that got me thinking...
"But, to several in the industry, this sounds like forming a vendor management service."

We really don't consider what we are working on to be a vendor management service, at least in the traditional sense. Our goal is to provide the independent abstractors with the technology and tools to provide a consistant, standardized product accross the country, and give them the electronic delivery options they need to be able to do business with more companies.
We feel that by helping the abstractors adopt uniform standards, and providing a centralized, on-line ordering platform for their clients, the abstractors can offer many of the benefits that have only been available through a Vendor Management Company (VMC). This, in conjunction with strong marketing efforts, will hopefully help the independent abstractor secure more work directly from the source.
We believe that "independent" abstractors should remain independent, however, working together to standardize the process can help everyone. If a potential client can go to one centralized location (Source of Title) to place an order with several several different abstractors across the nation and be assured of getting back a uniform product - they can cut out an unnecessary mark-up, and the abstractors retain more control over their future.
