You seem to have misunderstood. I was referring to CLIENTS who ask/demand lower prices, are the ones that almost to a fault are the same ones that are slow/no payers...ie...they don't pay their bills on time. I wasn't referring to you. I promise you your clients are NOT lowering their fees, the attorneys and banks are still charging the same price they always have, they just want you (all of us) to lower OUR prices so they can make MORE money for themselves. If anyone asks you to lower your price to get their work, that should send up red flags about whether they are going to be able to pay their bills going forward.
Not sure what area of the State you live/work in, but the "average" residential search fee's in Kentucky are what I stated in my earlier comment ($80 for 30-year...$60 for Current owner). Your fees are well below average. There is work to be had, you just need to do some marketing, lots of commercial work available for example (fees are MUCH higher for commercial work...can make $500-$1,000 per search on those here in Kentucky).
