That's pretty much what I guess happened.  The elderly lady wrote up a confusing trust (looks homemade) with all kinds of restrictions, but did name the eventual grantee as the beneficiary, so it probably is a matter of someone signing at her direction & no harm - no foul going on as well.

Interesting info from the RCMP.  My handwriting has progressed from bad to worse to illegible over the years, so I'm pretty sure anyone looking at my signature from 30 years ago would be calling my current signature a forgery & thanks for the reminder about hearts & smiley faces over the "i's".  I had forgotten that - very popular - back in the day :). 

Here's my homemade trust issue for the today  - handwritten document from 1975 & the beneficiaries' names are listed - signed by donor, witnessed by two of the beneficiaries & notarized by the 3rd beneficiary.  You can't make this stuff up...
