You didn't ask if I thought it was fair... you asked if I thought it was constitutional.  The Constitution doesn't require fairness. 

The bottom line is we need more money and you can't get blood from a turnip.  This nation is in a big hole and the only way out is to raise more revenue.  How are you going to do that?  You have to raise taxes, and it makes sense to raise it on the wealthy who have benefitted from prior policy and who are the only ones left who can afford to pay the consequences.

Maybe when the debt (and spending) is under control, we can decide on what would be more fair.

I'm assuming that you are not in the wealthy category.  If my assumption is correct, do you think you should pay more in taxes?
