I think it is interesting, the "all about me attitude". To an extent it is something that has always been around, since the Roman civilizations, invention of fire, dawn of man, etc. Individuals will fight for their own surival first, then for that of the things around them (family, friends, groups, mankind... usually in that order, too).

It just becomes more obvious the bigger the civilization gets. I think it comes down to a lack of community and misprioritizing lives, a lack of accountability.

You used to need to know your neighbors and townfolk so that you could barter products, protect the village, stop fires as a team, etc. Now you can work, go home, eat your microwaved meal, watch TV, do it all over again, get fired, go on unemployment, foreclose on your house, walk away from it all, complain, do it all over again.

There is little sense of community, children are raised on TV and computer games, no religion, education for the most part is a joke, opt for the "magical" pills if you feel sad, don't even know your own neighbors names.

For example, (whoever is reading this) when was the last time you did something that helped someone other than yourself, your family or your immediate groups?

The fundamentals of a strong society is strong individuals. To handle the country we need to salvage the individuals that comprise it.
