Wow, I would never have thought that a client would do something like that. It would certainly be unethical. I certainly understand now why you are adament about the naming of the type of  search it is..

You should probably also put something on the search that specifically says that it is NOT a 20 year search, etc.., etc..

I have never been ask to do a current owner search with a 20 year chain from any of my clients.

If that client of yours is passing off a current owner for a 20 year search there will certainly be hell to pay in the future!
