As I've noted many times before, this sort of technology is very useful in lowering costs for our clients.

We've been using digital cameras for over a year.  A 7.2 Mega-Pixel resolution camera used with the in-county computer screens has worked for us in a half-dozen counties.

It is easy to use online programs or free downloadable programs to convert JPG camera images to useful PDF format and to do so for free.  The PDF files can then be emailed to clients who can open them in Adobe Acrobat (also a free download), wherein they can manipulate the image to zoom in and out, adjust contrast and print the images at their convenience.

The alternative of printing the documents at the county would otherwise cost us the print fee ($5 first page, $1 each additonal  page in our primary county).  In this case, we could scan the image into our computer and send them by email, but the savings is not realized as you would have with the free camera option.
