Technically, "socialist" is probably the word you were looking for, as it primarily addresses the economic system, while "Communist" is a particular system of politics with its' own distinct attributes.

  The Demicans and Republicrats always beleive in the Corporate Welfare State, which is a form of socialism that is given the mis-nomenclature of "free market" economics. 

  It is not an easily understood par t of the global economy, but compare a small businessman running a general store or abstracting firm to a large corporate drug store or an international (title) insurance firm and you get the idea.  The small businessman is more apt to be a sole proprietor or partner in a private firm, while the corporation is more likely to have thousands (or more) public shareholders and a headquarters overseas in order to take advantage of international (tax) treaty benefits that you or I could hardly imagine.

  Neither of the parties in power are gems, but I do agree that the usual tax-and-spend ways of the Dems may be more adverse than the policies of their red-tie buddies.
