I suspect that the exit of the two insurance providers and the withdrawal Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield was motivated by profit more than anything else. I have spoken to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield during the past year. They are located only about 15 miles away from me. Believe me their rates are beyond the blue horizon. Those insurance carriers involved in the Charter Oak program are completely reputable. You may have heard of Aetna...then again possibly not.

With respect to the Husky Plan for children which serves as the model for the Charter Oak Plan...it has been in existence for quite a few years. While Atty Toubman is welcome to his opinion...it is still only one man's opinion. I can think of worse problems than having to change a physician. I have personally spoken to both physicians and parents that use the Husky Plan. All so far to whom I have spoken are satisfied with it. The doctors are comfortable with the knowledge that they will be paid. This is not the case with all private health care plans. I know of several carriers...one of them quite well known, and who cancelled a woman's policy when she put in a claim for breast cancer surgery...with whom the doctors will have no truck (borrowed from Damon Runion) because they have had problems receiving payment from them.The Husky plan has been adequately funded for years...possibly not to the satisfaction of the insurance industry though. This is why the insurance industry needs tighter regulation than is currenly provided by the state insurance depts.
