Medical break throughs are not limited by national borders. There are procedures available elsewhere that may not be available here. For instance there is a new treatment available for kidney cancer in the European Union and Russia, but not here in the U.S. The Europeans are more receptive to the eventual cures that may result from stem cell research. Farah Fawcett had to go to Europe to seek treatment for her cancer. My physician goes to conferences in Germany and Demark to compare treatments with his European counterparts. While he was there he was introduced to a new local anesthesia to perform biopsies that was not previously used in the       U.  S. The anesthesia has now become standard treatment here.

It is my understanding that there is little hope for a cure of Kennedy's cancer. The best he can hope for is an extension of time. They say 5 years maximum. If there is no cure for his cancer then he will most likely seek treatment locally. It makes no sense to go elsewhere for the same treatment. If there is an alternate treatment elsewhere than in the U.S. that offers hope...It would make sense to pursue it, and not reject it simply because it was not  American medicine. I think he will seek the best treatment possible, and pursue all options. I do not know that it will be limited to the U.S.
