Lori and everyone else (for that matter).  NEVER throw away the original order from the client.  Not only is that your PROOF of their order for billing purposes, it also will SAVE YOUR HIDE when a client has claim against them and they try to say you failed to report something.  That order from them requesting a search, but no tax information saves your a** when they try to get you to contact your E & O for a tax claim.  It also is extremely helpful when a client says, "well, that was so and so and she no longer works for us because she was ordering things she wasn't authorized to so we aren't paying."  Answer--then she shouldn't have had access to your letterhead because as far as I'm concerned YOUR COMPANY ordered the search and YOUR COMPANY is the entity being billed.  NEVER, EVER throw away the original order.
