I think you should make an issue of it. If the police refuse to act on your complaint ...notify the INS yourself. You might want to request local televised news coverage of your appearance at the police station or at court if there is a court date. Local law enforcement authorities are generally very sensitive to inquiry by the fourth estate...especially if they are elected officials. You might want to request an internal affairs investigation of your local police department's decision in this matter not to pursue the illegal aliens. a complaint to the mayor of your fair city may also be in order...with a copy sent to your local news media
