Very true...I have seen a huge number of borrowers (refi's)/buyers(sales) electing to take a do it yourself approach to acquisition or refinancing their homes. They do not seem to realize that this is an investment as well as a place to live. Few if any chose to be represented by legal counsel. I think that if they had chosen not to rely solely on the LO there may have been a different outcome to the subprime meltdown and foreclosure dilemma.
