It has happened to us down here too. We checked taxes and confirmed the amount. The county computer also stated that there were no delinquent taxes, which there weren't because they were paid by another party who purchased them. Ergo, we ended up being liable for the "delinquent" taxes to the tune of $2500. Yeah, you're right Robert this is one of those times it sucks to be an abstractor. It could have been worse......and it happened only ONCE in seven years! We had a big meeting about this one. It's just another one of those times that you need to really pay attention and do our jobs. All in all it's a great job though. Just my 2 cents again.
