On a positive note and opposite end of the spectrum, consider Mrs. Mabel Lowman, Clerk of Court in Burke County, North Carolina. I thought the world of her but used to dread holding foreclosure hearings in that county, since they took at least twice as long as other counties.
One day Mrs. Lowman said, "I know you get tired of waiting for me to read through every word, but these are my people. They're my neighbors. I see them at supper on Saturday nights and sit beside them at church on Sundays, and I just have to be 100% sure I'm doing right by them before making a decision."
I never minded waiting after that. We sure need more Lowmans.
