We always search last name first initial (our name was Dorothy A Monroe).  A name search would not start with A, and there was nothing in the records indicating what "A" stood for, middle initial, maiden name, nothing.  In doing a review I reported it, but stated in my review that I would not have included it in the original search since I had no indication that A stood for Alice.
