Well, your background has given you skills that will be helpful. Many here are good people although some are paranoid about anyone new. Don't let them get to you. Yes, try to market yourself to a title company or with an abstractor who will take the time to train you. Take great notes on everything. There is so much to learn. It's not rocket science, but at first you will be learning something new every day...like for months and months, everything from county directions, the different computer systems and ways records are set up, and of course, the research. You won't believe how many scenarios will arise in your research. Then, you will eventually develop a foundation from which to build. You will still be learning but you will have acquired the skills and a level of experience to grow. Make contacts here, where people don't see you as competition, maybe take a course if you can find one anywhere and work to perfect your process every day.

It's a good business, as you can work for yourself, run your own show, build relationships with county employees and your clients, and potentially make a good living. It's highly competitive and there will be obstacles, as in all businesses, and you have to be able to make adjustments on the fly and keep rollin'.
