In the counties in Mass, I would say most if not all examiners charge for copies. The reasoning being the registry charges us for them. So, in turn we past on the costs to the clients.

I would say it is normal business practice. The problem I have with clients who want to know upfront or to include copies in a flat rate cost. Is that there is really no way to tell what the actual copies charges are going to be from one exam from another. For if one estimates, too low you can get burn. If one estimates too high, the client passes you over. It's a no win situation for the examiner. I informed my clients who want a flat rate cost overall. No, I charge copies on a per exam basis, this way it's fair all around.

I hope other companies who maybe reading this comment, please change your policies regarding flat charge for copies to a exam basis. It's the fair way all around for everyone.

Remember for each exam almost has it own personally, being that it is unpredictable!!
