I've noticed some (national) title companies charge a flat or bundled rates for title insurance on refinances instead of the published rates listed on my states' Department of Insurance website. Nowhere that I could find does it mention flat or bundled rates.
I've asked the Dept of Insurance about this & told the companies set their own rates which I can come in to look at. As a consumer not licensed to sell title insurance, doesn't this make the published guidelines meaningless, and if there are exceptions, shouldn't they be disclosed on the websites for consumers to see as well?
I would appreciate some insight on this.
