We have subscriptions to all of the jurisdictions that we cover. They are not inexpensive. However, that means unless we have to go to a courthouse where we don't already have a copy account. there isn't going to be receipt generated showing how much we paid for the copies the client wants. It doesn't mean we got the copies for free. It does mean that we prepaid for them. The state set the fee at $0.50 per page for standard copies. There is a separate certification fee if those are needed. I also charge a separate fee to provide copies to help cover the time and cost to retrieve the copies from the courthouse.
In my opinion, clients that micromanage things like this aren't worth having because they frequently end up being non-payers who undercutting our fees and are only after copies and information that is not available online.
